Ahhhh, the charming mild life in Unionville
#1

Critique welcome (very much so). Pavel 1/1000 sec, f/8, ISO 200, 50mm/1.4. Slight adjustments Lightroom 1.4 and sharpening and export CS3.
2 versions. The second slightly cropped.

Life on the mild side, one might say. The scene may not be exciting, but the technical aspects are very well done. The exposure looks to be perfect, with sufficient detail visible in the shadows, but no overexposed areas. The colors also appear to be very nicely reproduced. Everything is in focus and sufficiently sharp. Also, despite being shot around midday, there is some diversity of light and shadow. I'm sure that this is a very accurate depiction of the attractions of Unionville on a Summer's day, and the Chamber of Commerce may want to use it in a brochure. (For that purpose, they may want the overcast sky replaced in photoshop with a bright blue one.) However, the scene itself is not enough to hold my interest for long. The cropped version is definitely to be preferred, as it gets rid of areas of the photo with nothing going on (and an unsightly electrical box).

No great revelations in this critique, but I hope it is helpful.
Cheers, Gary

Pretty much my view, but I liked the colours and I like the restaurant scene, which gives the photo some life. Good place to eat too. Thanks Pavel

I was not meaning housing like that. I mean looking at buildings in other parts of the world.
Germany has some strange roof shapes as does Holland. China has also a different style of housing. Smile
