#3 is the better composed shot and #1 has a better looking barbbed wire. #1 has no contrast between the bg and the wire. Try putting something behind it and reshoot. Maybe something green like the backside of the leaves like in #3. Move things to the way you like.

Thanks for your comment Petographer, you are right with #1. I didn't realize about that... I will try tomorrow.

I agree that #1 has better looking barbed wire. Love the moss and rust together! How about shooting it from below, so that there's only sky behind? Something to try, anyway.

I like what you're doing, Irma... heheh you've caught on to Toad's fascination with close ups of subjects...
In order of preference, I would rate 1, 2 and then 3. I think 1 is good except for the bright white bit in the top left...

I like #2 - the treatment works well with the subject - the colors in the wire are great in #1 and #3 as well, but both need to be a bit sharper.
Nice tight crops - well done.

I am member of a foto sharing site since November last year. Just recently I was invited to belong to some groups in that site. Those groups collect pictures with a specific subject. One of them is the barbwire group, and it is very interesting how something so common could be captured so artistically and beautifully... I like to work with this sort of groups because they help you to focus in the subject in many different contexts.

A good look at something small and familiar. That's part of your job Irma. Good work. There is color, texture and fierceness in these photos.
