Barn in the trees
I think I found out what my IR camera is for.

a lovel photo Matthew. I am glad the trip was not an utter wipeout for all of us. I like this photo a lot. You may also enjoy some of the photos in this galery (or not). Let me know what you think. Pavel http://fanartreview.com./selectprofilegallery.jsp?userid=118209

A very spectactular image, Matthew! A definite brooding mood has been created here, enhanced by the great cloud formations that day. Does anybody remember "The Twighlight Zone"?

Regards.....Dennis

Thanks, everyone. This was an unremarkable scene with a nothing sky in the normal light. I've been enjoying the camera's ability to separate natural and artificial subjects like this, because the tonal range in normal photography was very bland and the barn almost disappears into the trees.

I have some visible light photos of this barn around here, but I'm currently having a fight with the brains of the operation - my iMac with its array of hard drives - and can't muster the resources to get to it right now. I think the computer either needs new ram or a trip to the spa, and apple service is very nearly useless. (I've actually been disappointed with the quality control of the last three Apple computers I've bought, I'm just lucky to have the extended warranty this time. The computer's almost exactly thirteen and one-half months old.)

I spoke very sternly to my computer, and now it's up and running again. Here's the same scene in normal light for comparison.

Looks like a cloud moved to give you direct sunlight on the barn in the IR version--this combination was my favorite when shooting infrared.

Pavel, I agree - the only use for the visible light image is to illustrate just how remarkable the IR version is.

Keith, the clouds were moving quickly, giving me plenty of variations to choose from in the sky and on the ground. I did actually take a few because I saw where the light was falling, but like with most things, this shot was mostly luck.
