Canon eff-s 10-22mm lens
#1

Hi everyone. I would like your opinion on the canon ef-s 10-22mm lens for landscape photography and buildings. I have seen images taken with this lens and was impressed. Any advice would be very welcome thanks. I have a canon eos 600d camera with 18-55mm lens, 55-250mm lens and am looking to expand my photography with a wider angle lens.

It's a good lens to get if one is really into doing wide angle shots. It will also get you more perspective for landscapes which I personally love to shoot. Dropping down to 10mm is an awesome feature to have in your bag of lenses.

I agree that lens is excellent, but I have had a 10-24mm 1:3.5-4.5 Tamron lens for some time now and have found it to be a good solid quite heavy and well built lens that produces superb images. And this is by far cheaper than the canon lens.

My last 3 lenses were all Tamron, no complaints, and, the price was right. Sony are the largest shareholders in Tamron, At one time, most studio TV Cameras, made by Sony, had lenses made by Tamron, not that that makes them any better!! Ed.

The Canon 10-22 is a great lens. It was always my go-to lens until I switched to a full frame camera. I highly recommend it. See Ken Rockwell's review here:

Thank you to everyone who gave advise about the canon 10-22mm lens. I have ordered one and am picking it up tonight. When I have some photos I will post them for your comments. I am new to photography so do not comment on anything as I don't feel I have enough knowledge, but I do read the forums and appreciate all the help and tips I can get. The fun is going out and trying it yourself.

Thanks, Barbara. I have a pretty substantial Flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jdstrung/

Up to now have been shooting a Canon 7D, but just bought a 6D. Will continue to use the 7D for birds. The full frame 16-35 Canon lens replaces the 10-22 APC lens, but I expect it to work much the same.
