I suspect that Don is emphasizing with the Australian spiders trying to escape the flood. He frequently does paintings from his photos - sometimes you get to see both in one thread. Its not unusual to have verse included as well.

It's a long dead spider web in a bus shack in Winnipeg in February. Damn cold out.
