Ethical Use Of Images On Internet
#1

Reproducing most of the images without the permission of the author of the photograph is a violation of rights and an ethical issue. However we may come across instances where we have to use an image to convey a particular idea, while posting in forums, or blogging , or may be sometimes making a tutorial in photoshop to be presented to a online community. After all it’s said that a picture is worth thousand words.
So we have to respect the copyrights of the original author and select our images carefully. Following is a guide to use images legally. That way you can avoid copy pasting the URLs of copyrighted images found on Flickr, or in Google search in your posts and blogs, which is illegal.

The best way to find images is to find images with a creative commons license. There are several types of licenses in creative commons.

1.Attribution license- others can copy, distribute, display else where your copyrighted work - and derivative works based upon it – But they must give you credit as the original author of the photograph. If you post such an image on your blog, you have to link back to the original author.

2.Non commercial: Others can use your image for above criteria, but for non commercial usage only.

3.No Derivatives: Others can not alter the original contents of your image.

You can find creative commons in some popular online sites.

1. Flickr Creative Commons: Flickr hosts thousands of creative common images. You can easily navigate and find images you want, and remember to choose from the proper type. For example if you are going to alter the contents of an image you can choose attribution licence type, If you are not making any derivative work out of it you can choose Attribution-No Derivatives license type and so on.

2. Search for creative commons in google images.

3.Use Wikimedia commons.
