I have just been looking in my 'Acme' bird book under 'Road Runner' . They are not there.
 Blackheaded gulls is what they are, juveniles 1st year I believe. There were a few of them on the riverside, and I got quite close, about 10ft. Glad you like them. I just thought they had knobbly knees.
