High key portrait
#1

I followed a tutorial to get a high key effect in this portrait... How do you like the outcome? Smile

As I was not sure it was light enough I added a brightness/contrast layer on top.

Thanks so much for any advice to improve my technique here... Smile

very nice!! 1 ist better than #2, I like the fact that there is still some detail in his skin etc.
guess others might prefer #2 style for "simplicity" - in the most positive sense.

well done!! very inspiring. what was the tutorial?

Very important points in your critique... Thanks Uli... Smile

My picture is a bit far from the tutorial but I will try again.
The tutorial is this one.

Hi Irma,

Perhaps for high key you may want to hit somewhere inbetween the two photos for brightness. I like the first the best.

Canon stuff.

Thanks very much Chris, Pat for your comment...

I learned in this tutorial that you have to have in mind that the picture you are taking will be a High key image, and I really didn't do it... However I will keep trying.. Smile

your picture looks much better than the one in the tutorial!
but of course you cannot make a high-key picture out of one that wasn't one to begin with, you already had a bright background etc...

did you try more?

Thanks for the complement... Smile

I haven't checked all my portrait pictures I have from mexico to see if one could work better. Today I will have breakfast with my neighbour maybe I could ask her to pose for me and take an overexposed picture and play with it... Wink

Hi Shawn..
I am very sorry I forgot to come back to this thread to thank your comment...

As the effect I have in the second one is in an adjustment layer I will reduce the opacitiy and I will have the effect right... Smile

Thanks a lot for your comment .... Smile
