Her new camera will only arrive in two or three weeks, but she's busy taking photos with our small camera already!

Is that a Nikon?
--Don Nikon D3100 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5, (I like to use a Vivitar .43x aux on the 28-70mm Tokina), Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye, Quanteray 70-300mm f4.5, ProOptic 500 mm f6.3 mirror lens. http://donschaefferphoto.blogspot.com/

Yes, it's an E3200. 3 Megapixels, a lot of programs, but limited manual mode. It's actually quite nice for closeups/ macros, because the lens doesn't stick out much and so doesn't get in the way of the camera flash. The worst with this camera is that you can't set the aperture size (or we haven't found out how), so you have to trust that the program is doing the right thing. The best thing is it's size, it fits in every pocket.
