Purchased a new computer and a new monitor (mere 30" !!!)
#1

The monitor arrived today. Dell Ultrasharp 3011. A lot of real estate on it. Almost 16" tall, about 25" wide, I am guessing. factory calibrated to sRGB and Adobe RGB (you pick). I will recalibrate anyway, as I will want to reduce brightness to 100 cd/m2. Boy what a pleasure. I am getting a very basic Dell 8300 for 1/2 the price of my monitor. It will be 2.5 times faster than my current system (Enough). My wife is getting my current system (except my Drobo), iclucing my 24" Dell ultrasharp. Apparently her 19" RGB monitor is too small for her. Her computer died.

Nice! So how is the picture on your new TV? Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Got some glowing reviews here...

i'm thinking of going the other way - currently have a 24" imac and will probably "downgrade" to the latest 21.5" version. The resolution is still the same just a physically slightly smaller screen.

Congratulation, I know you'll put it to good use.

All you need now is a second monitor. Big Grin

30" Pavel, is that all? I thought you liked big. Big Grin

We occasionally have a photo show using the 40" TV with the laptop plugged into it. One day I will take the Imac downstairs and plug that into the TV.

[The sweet spot for monitors is now between 21.5 and 23 in...] It says in Jules link. You do right to come down. Wink

Thank you all you jealous well wishers. The one consolation for you is that all my photos now look terrible, because the monitor is not calibrated to my specks. Your photos are the same Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
