Large Bird
#1

This is a grouse. Or is it? The Babylon dictionary say so! Smile

In German, it is an "Auerhahn".

How large is this bird? Do you have it next to anything we can compare it to?
It looks like some sort of Chicken.

Is this a native-bird?

The bird is approximately as large as a turkey. Latin name is "tetrao urogallus".

It was locked in, with limited possibilities to shoot it. I got no other angle than this one, with this shot being the only sharp one because the crazy bird kept running around in it's cage.

There are more pictures of this bird at http://www.naturfoto-online.de/galerie-auerhuhn-1.htm

Hmm yes I suppose you could! Tongue Only you have to find one first, the bird is nearly extinct. The estimated German population is around 1200 individuals, according to Oli's Wilde Welt. Happy hunting! Big Grin
