Microsoft street slide - new take on google street view
#1

Although not strictly photography related, I thought this demonstration of up and coming technology from Microsoft Research labs was just amazing. Basically, instead of just panning around in a 360 degree fashion with Google street view, Microsoft street slide gives you a zoomed out view and you can basically slide along a street to give you a fuller perspective of the shop and housefronts.

Anyway, watch the video and you'll think - why didn't they think of this sooner? It just makes so much more sense, especially in busy city streets. Big Grin

A bit more easy to use than streetview, but as it says at the moment only the technology is there.
They have to bike car whatever to get all the photos. We don't know how long google took to do it.

Lumix LX5.
Canon 350 D.+ 18-55 Kit lens + Tamron 70-300 macro. + Canon 50mm f1.8 + Manfrotto tripod, in bag.

And the great thing is that there's all that room for ads!

(It is an interesting development, though.)
