Yes it's fungus, but I doubt you can eat it. I wouldn't know, though... The only mushrooms I can identify with certainty are champignons. They grow in the supermarket, third shelf.

Yep, not a good idea to eat any fungus you're not sure about - I get mine from the Supermarket too I used to have a link to an amazing collection of photos of fungi. If I can find it I'll post again. There are some very colourful fungi - though I never seem to be able to find them growing in the wild so I can take my own pix I'm back to edit - I found the website with the amazing pix of Fungi and you can SEE it HERE Polly
