The last (I think) of the images from this area I plan to post in the critique forum. Please comment. Pavel

Dear Pavel,

I like this shot, I think it is well composed, except for a wee bit I would crop off the top and right. The colors are nice, but maybe a little pale, but that might be a monitor issue.
I particularly like the velvet-like texture of the tree tips.

Well done.

Greetings!! Uli

Thank you Uli for commenting. I am constantly torn about the colours. On one hand, I try to make the colours interesting and stand out and "better than natural", and the other side of me wishes to show photos of nature with some restrain and to let the nature speak for itself. In this case, global changes to green made the foreground greens look awful and so instead of making local adjustments, I went for the "restraint look". Looking at the photo after your comment, I tend to agree with you and I should boost the colours in most of the photo, except the front right.

I am trying to imagine your idea of cropping, but I do not see it, probably because I do not know how much cropping do you propose. When I tried to visualize the crop, I imagined cutting off about 1/2 the distance to the house of the top right corner. Cutting more would remove the repetitive pattern on top, which I see as important. I could crop about the same amount from the right, but that would tend to put the foreground house to the middle and that would not appeal to me. Tell me what you had in mind? Again, than you Uli for taking time to make helkpful comments. Pavel

I am not so sure myself, now that I tried.
My idea was to emphasize more the curve of the white houses in the left bottom/middle part.

still, nice shot!!

Hello Uli, I do not know what happened. I posted a reply to you and it was displayed on Shuttertalk for a while and then it got deleted. Did I break any rule of posting and it was deleted by Admin? I do not know. The gist of what I said was that I was really impressed by how a small crop can have a very significant impact on the apearance of the photo. I would have never seen what you did and it really intriqued me. How did you know that the tiny crop will draw attention to the roundness of the house? It is really true, it does. Is it because the house is more centered? Thanks very much for your comments. Pavel

To admin: Did you delete my previous version? I do not think I said anything inapropriate - basically what I am saying now. Or was it a software glitch?
