Now I know this photo does not work, but I do not understand why. Can you help? Pavel

I think if you cropped the top of this to get rid of the red roof and tighten up a little on the left side, along with toning down the white tank and bright bare earth that it's on, this would turn from a "doesn't" to a "does work". Right now there are a lot of different elements competing for attention, but it could be a simpler study of curved lines.

Matthew, I agree with you only partially on this one. I think the house with the red roof ancors the image. I can see cropping half way up from the roof and tighten on the left. I already toned down the white tank and the cement patch it stands on a lot, but I will try to do more. I think this photo has in my view a lot of potential, but I also see it does not work. I will try (most of) your recoimmendations. Thanks Pavel

First let me say that I don't know much and even less about post-processing. I still think I need to get everything in my viewfinder like the old film days with a manual camera.

That said:

I like many things about your picture, the curving road, terraced hills and other curves. The destination is a pretty red house, set off well against the green. Here's my problem. My eye doesn't know where to rest. I feel like I'm trying to take in several pictures at a time. You can have a great pic w/ the curves minus the house, but then that red pizazz is gone. I found that holding a magazine up to the left side, I got a cleaner pic when I bisected the house, leaving only the dark red in the pic. Is there a way to lighten the top right corner? That would also aid in the balance. Remember just MHO. I hope to learn many things at this site. I'm fairly camera and computer literate, but put them together and it's a foreign language.

Keep looking outside the box. Big Grin
