Saturday at the park
a couple from Juanita Bay this afternoon...
pied-billed grebe... they usually don't come in close enough to give me a decent shot, but today they were feeling generous... ![]() just a song sparrow, but i liked the light and the pose... ![]() loved the reflected light on this little lady ring-neck...

Polarising filter?
In no way doubting you. The first one shows little water effects left and right of the reflected image, where as in the third although the water looks choppier than the first photo, there are no little lines either side. Putting that to one side the three shots are quality.

(Apr 16, 2012 01:42)NT73 Wrote: Polarising filter? nope, no filters were used for these shots. they were taken about an hour - and some distance - apart, and clearly in different light. the first was shot in sunlight at about 6 PM, and the second as the sun was setting, at about 7:00. as for the ripples, in the first one, as you can see, the grebe is actively moving, creating a wake, while in the last one, there's no such movement to create those ripples. had the grebe been at rest, there would've been no ripples whatsoever, as the water was flat calm, but in the hour or so between shots, a slight breeze came up, just enough to create the wavy appearance on the surface. |
