Neat shot. The composition is fine and the coloring is nicely understated. It just looks a little too tame. Do something wild to it.

Nikon D3100 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5, (I like to use a Vivitar .43x aux on the 28-70mm Tokina), Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye, Quanteray 70-300mm f4.5, ProOptic 500 mm f6.3 mirror lens. http://donschaefferphoto.blogspot.com/

I actually had a couple of wild versions that I discarded before I settled on the more subdued one - maybe I will reserrect one...

I love it. I think the strength in this shot is how soft the colors are. Don't go wild at all.

Beautiful picture Toad.
I hadn't seen it before.

Great work with colors, and contrast!!
So difficult to get foggy pictures and yet make your subject look interesting.

A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.

Nice, Toad: I was just having a look to see if an even tighter crop(ie, more "horizontally panoramic") would work even better. There's a lot of restrained power in the land mass just behind the ships..almost as if it is a huge ship itself, but yet again I might be going off all intense again..

Thanks Zig - I have done a couple of different crops of this one since this was posted a couple of years ago. I am not super happy with any of the crops - maybe its just not that interesting a shot - more of a graphic really...

Beautiful colors indeed!

I like the cascading composition "ship-ship-forest", but the tapering off to the left also makes me feel unbalanced. If it was mine, I would probably try a crop from the right to stabilize it.
