In threads past I have mentioned I have an ongoing project building a slide show, image collection of Civil war re-enactments, edited to emulate civil war era photos.
Some of them I have worked on degrading and aging more. Did I go too far on this one?

Too my eye this shows too much grain. The original images I have looked at, for all their foibles, are remarkably free of grain. After all, they were large plates and contact printed.
Ask yourself, "What's most important for the final image?".

Yeah, I did this one after watching something on the history channel, and the pictures in it were pretty horrendous, very soft and "mushy", but they weren't that grainy, think I'll re-work this one after that show has faded from memory somewhat.
