Snail Blues
#1

For some reason these big (1" shell) snails live everywhere in the city except for my neighborhood.
Was visiting across town when I shot this portrait.

Held the flash in my left hand about 6 inches above the snail, manual exposure mode.

Did you take that with a close-up or macro lens, or just crop it?

I don't have a DSLR, I use a Sony F717 that has a fast (F2) and sharp Zeiss lens.
It'll focus on something within a couple millimeters of the front element.
The photo was copped a little, maybe 10%, to remove distracting edge elements.
