Taking Control of Brightness
#1

How would you rate your understanding of light and how to control it in your photos? If you don't consider yourself an expert, you need to see these tips

Jeff, glad you put up a reasonably good link. I tend to set my exposures down at least a third of a stop when I am walking around during the day. I check it periodically and adjust. Sadly, it always argues with my histogram which means I am sacrificing data for immediate look. I hate bring shots down in post. But that is me. Most of my work is done in low light with long exposures. I like the saturation and I like the dark. Light is the paint, so I hate the idea that my sensor and camera automations are designed to bring everything to 18%. I always use spot metering or use my light meter (to know approx where the scene is at) and shoot manually.
