Two more attemts
#1

Again trying to overcome the bright light without darkening the shadows beyond detail. Again any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

f/4 1/100sec ISO 100 focal length 4mm

f/4 1/80 sec ISO 100 focal length 4mm

As far as processing I adjust contrast, highlights and clarity with Lightroom then played with Shadow Burn, Dodge and Big Sky Enhancement from Seim Effects.

Jim, I think that you could, and in my opinion should, reduce the brightness by about half a stop to benefit the images, without adversely affecting the shadow areas. Is it the "Big Sky Enhancement" that has turned all the upper branches an unnatural blue? If so, I would either leave that step out of the processing, or reduce the blue saturation on and around those branches.

I agree with MrB, the branches look a little wonky. I really like the composition of the photos though!
