Wow, that's amazing - especially hand held! What lens were you using and how close did you have to stand?

For detail of the insect, #1 and #2 have got to be my pics, but my favourite is actually #5 - love the perspective and the framing of the leaf.

(By the way, I hope you don't mind - I edited your post and added numbers for each photo to make them easier to talk about)

hey, no worries!

thanks for looking Tongue

i was using 100mm L macro stacked with a kenko 1.4x tc

distance wise i was within about 1m away from the wasps, it didn't help that it was quite windy and that when i moved the wasps would fly away from where they perched, not that they were aggressive feels almost like reacting to me trying to get closer

also that there were 5 flying around so it did make me quite uncomfortable at times, i did had to crop my photos, really wish i could've gotten closer

Good work. I love those insect macros.

Nikon D3100 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5, (I like to use a Vivitar .43x aux on the 28-70mm Tokina), Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye, Quanteray 70-300mm f4.5, ProOptic 500 mm f6.3 mirror lens. http://donschaefferphoto.blogspot.com/
