Managed to get out with the camera yesterday please have a look at these shots using Sony 850's with Tamron 70-200 F2.8 and a Samyang 3.5/T 24m tilt and shift. Sunny afternoon at Linton Falls on the River Wharfe, North Yorkshire. So far no manipulation.

Very effective! I specially liked the stone bridge which really talks, but (apart from the last one which I looked at but couldn't relate to very much) in all of them, the focus and the colours and the general interest - partly from being a bit unusual - I find very appealing...Cheers! Jeff

Thanks Jeff, I agree the last one is a bit bland, glad you liked the others, I'm still getting the hang of the Sanyang lens but its fun learning.
Are you having problems accessing the ST website?

Hi Mark

I find these fascinating - so much so that I wanted to attempt a comment of what I see in each of them. Thanks for sharing them.

1. http://www.picture-in-focus.co.uk/images...winder.jpg - this one is a bit too complex for me - maybe it needs a better eye or imagination than mine. I find myself wanting to see more of the patina and colour of the metal winder - and that might in itself make the softness of the water beyond very appealing. I do like the composition though.

2. http://www.picture-in-focus.co.uk/images...0falls.jpg - yes, this one is nice colour and you set the frame so well, just wondering if a standard lens would do as well for this shot (lots of fun in here though)?

3. http://www.picture-in-focus.co.uk/images...bridge.jpg - love this bridge and although others might say the colourful background is distracting and best to keep one single interest point ( the bridge) its a picture that keeps me interested. I know I would lift the bridge stone myself and sharpen slightly because the bridge stone is such a lovely feature but who knows, maybe that would ruin it!

4. http://www.picture-in-focus.co.uk/images...erries.jpg - just the job! would be happy to have this on my wall, Mark. The colours and the carry through from berries to branches to cliff face to beyond means plenty to think about and absorb. Lovely colour. I might be tempted to crop a little?

5. http://www.picture-in-focus.co.uk/images...wharfe.jpg marvellous - your lens is really coming into its own here. Great shot selection, love the composition (though again if were me I would be tempted to crop a little as the sides and base don't say much and introduce more contrast in the sky).

6. http://www.picture-in-focus.co.uk/images...inkler.jpg - nice tranquil scene, but doesn't quite captivate me personally like some of your others...perhaps not enough happening for my sometimes-too-busy mind, though I like the colour and the reflection. Where should I look, I wonder, on the image and what is the image saying?

7. http://www.picture-in-focus.co.uk/pic_fo...tation.jpg - to my mind, this needs some editing to lighten the weir water, crop out out some of the foreground and the right hand side with the out-of-context fir tree, clone out the telegraph pole and, for me, lighten the shadows. You would then have a more stable, dramatic and yet idyllic scene.

Bearing in mind, my own skill limitations, in my view, Mark you are a 'proper' photographer because you are developing your own style, have a great eye for a picture and great courage to grab an image which is different. Also, I think you are having fun and I rate that! Let's see what others think about your images....Regards, Jeff
