Wolf Spider?
#1

I was cutting back plants and clearing leaves in the garden when I nearly accidently picked this up...

I thought is was a huntman but I checked a few sites and I think its an Australian Wolf Spider...
I gently caught it in a glass jar and when I was confident that it couldnt climb the glass sides I let it out into a large kitchen dish with tall sides... It was mostly happy to stay still for a few close ups. The sunlight through the glass sides gave a nice background too. It did get out once and it was even creepier watching it run at full speed....

Unfortunately (for the spider) my wife said it had to go.... RIP wolfy.

Taken with Pentax DS, sigma 28-80mm at 80mm (with macro switch) and 30mm extension ring (manual focus).

I agree. You can really see it in detail. It has a nice way of filling the frame too.

Nikon D3100 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5, (I like to use a Vivitar .43x aux on the 28-70mm Tokina), Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye, Quanteray 70-300mm f4.5, ProOptic 500 mm f6.3 mirror lens. http://donschaefferphoto.blogspot.com/

It's from Australia, odds are pretty good.

"The bite of the Wolf Spider is poisonous but not lethal. Although non-aggressive, they will bite if provoked and should be considered dangerous to humans."
