quota & online storage
#1

just got an email from uni

AUTOMATED QUOTA WARNING
=======================

User : loha03

Current Usage : 9976
Quota/Soft Limit : 7500
Hard Limit : 10000

Grace : 6days

You are receiving this email because you have exceeded your disk quota
on tartarus.uwa.edu.au.

A number will appear in the grace column. This is the number of days
that
you can remain over quota without penalty. Once the grace period is
over,
you will start to have trouble with your account, such as being unable
to
send or receive email. You also risk a permanent reduction in your
maximum
quota.

.....

ive been using the account to host my pictures I show on this forum while I was on dialup; if i delete them, I have to edit all my posts with pictures! ahahaah Sad

Where do you think is the best free place to load pictures that I can link to from here? Photobucket? Pbase> Other?

Is that bytes / kilobytes / megabytes? Big Grin

I think photobucket is the most straightforward. Some people have trouble with pbase...

My ISP gives me 50mb, but I might change soon if I find a cheaper/better deal Smile
At the moment half of my uploaded pictures are on my ISP server and the other half is on my uni one Smile
*another hint* Peter, let's set up our own server... hehe

If I change plans, there's a cheaper one with dynamic IP instead of static, so I'll stop being server-man (though I don't do it anymore anyway, so save money!)

If you are interested I would be happy with getting Together, if there is enough of us, and we can share a server, any one interested?

I could gather computer parts to make computer as server (not sure of exact specifications required to run a server though), I think the higher ongoing cost would be a fast internet connection.
