Plen-what the? Here's some news about a camera that some bright eyed researchers are working on, which allows refocusing AFTER the image is taken.

Pretty cool eh? My simple uneducated translation would be that they use an array of microlenses just in front of the sensor to record multiple "views" for each pixel, and then selectively choose views to focus in on objects in post processing.

I think it implementing it in mainstream photography might be a challenge though - especially since less pixels are recorded (probably why they're using a MF camera), and also more lens elements means less light = more noise. But interesting nonetheless...
