Practicing Digital Photography: Taking Close Ups -
Barbara G. - Jun 20, 2013
Here is a practicing digital photography challenge for our members. Take some time and shoot some close up photography this/next week. Look around for some normal objects you can get close and personal with (must be family friendly, of course).
Focus on a small part of the object you are looking at. Not only will you be taking close shots, but also photographing some unique views of objects.
What are we missing in this unique world of seeing through the lens of our cameras?
How unique of an image can you create for this digital photography assignment?
Are you up to the challenge?
Please post some close up photos along with some info about your object and any other valuable info for the forum members!
Thanks for participating!

Combining practice with my Canon 100mm macro lens and free trial of Nik software. The lizard was about 2 inches long and these were all taken around lake Maggiore, last week.

So, is the number of photos in this thread limited?
Because I have quite a lot of close ups in my pocket
Starting with only one while waiting for the answer...

Here are some eyes I shot with a Nikon 105mm macro. They were new friends, and I explained it was for a project I'm working on. The fun was, we were so close, no worries about appearance, like 'is my hair ok?'

These are Irish and Scottish moss that I have around a couple of Japanese Maples. I tried an idea I saw of drilling a few small drain holes in an old wheelbarrow and using it as a mobile planter, the trees move to the shade! So, after watering, the water drops got my attention and once again, the 105mm macro and a tripod had a good time.

I was asked to judge the photography section at a nearby Village show today, and afterwards I had a wander round to look at some of the entries in the other show categories.

Having trouble posting photos. Am very confused at this time. How do you know when attachments are entered. I selected 4 pics and then clicked on the paperclip. I will try again and click on add attachment.
