Here’s a place I really like. It’s called Earnestine and Hazel’s. Located in the South Main district of downtown Memphis, it was once a dry goods store by day and a brothel at night. I stopped in on this day to have a late lunch. They have one thing on the menu – actually there is no menu – a hamburger and chips. The place is a bar and nightclub now and really doesn’t even get going until after midnight. We were the only ones in their at the time, and the chef/bartender told us to feel free to look around. So I did. They say the place is haunted, and that day, walking through these rooms, I could believe it.

Yep, that's one oppressive place, and nothing to do with how you shot it.

Great Photos. I am particularly fond of #s 2 and 3. Pavel

Can't believe the city lets a place in such condition be open. Captured well, I like the textures...

This place is quite a dive, but I think that’s why it drew me in. I’m not sure how structurally sound it is or how it passes building code, but old, rundown buildings like this are one of the things I really love to shoot photos of.

Looks like a place with some CHARACHTER and history thats for sure. I quite like the way you portraied it. #3 is simply great!

Thanx for sharing.

I like these photos, especially #1, because it reminds me of van Gogh's "The Night Cafe" ( see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night_Caf%C3%A9). Of course, van Gogh used a wide angle lens Wink

I see the appeal of the favourites the others have mentioned, but for me #2 is the most interesting of the collection. It feels like an interesting question.
