Fisheye doubles as outstanding landscape lens!
#1

Yes, it is true! I have devoted one of my Sony Alpha cameras to keeping the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fisheye lens mounted full-time. I suppose some may think that this is just a phase I am going through, but I am really liking this fine lens more and more for my Fogo Island landscapes. It's just a matter of strategically composing the shot so that it is less "fishy" looking.

Here are some captures from the past few days. All were taken handheld with my A500 and Samyang (Rokinon) 8mm fisheye. None have been defished.

I can understand the wee compromises in edge performance and light fall-off(and more than made up for by the stonking depth of field), but hey, getting all you have out of a lens like this is, is a tour de force...I bet you were crawling around the floor for these. Jolly good seeing your work again...I hope your back is well: these would testify that it is!

These are fantastic. The last one looks a little fishy, but the others look quite natural and all are spectacular. It's a long way from the skateboard pics I usually see from fisheye lenses.

I can't talk about technical details, I have not any experience and knowledge for them. But dear Glen, as always your photographs fascinating, I loved them all. So impressive. As if I can touch them or I can jump into the photographs Smile so real...

Thank you,
with my love,

I like them all.
As to the last one, it is only the prow that looks to be square on to the camera rather than going from back to front, but you have to study everything to see it as a fault.
As it is in showcase rather than critique, there is nothing wrong with it. Wink
