I hope something can be done! The photo forums are no longer accepting uploads. I get an error message each time saying the file was not transported to its destination and the upload failed.

For a while now I have not been able to get on the site during the day. I wonder if the London Olympics has anything to do with it. And uploading seems to take ages. Even a small reply in text.

Hi Don, thanks for pointing it out - for some reason the directory permissions were messed up. Should be fixed now, let me know if you are still having problems.
Ray, sorry to hear about that - can you let me know if it's still loading slowly for you?

I will tell you in a moment or two.
About two seconds for the above.
I will try a photo now.
Faster than the text.
I have not been able to get on to the site during the day. I get 'server not responding' after the time out period of about 30 seconds.
Two hours ago I tried and failed. At the moment it seems as it should be.

For what it's worth, the site is perfectly snappy from over here – and I can't say that I've noticed it being otherwise in quite some time.

Don't worry about it. I am a night owl anyway. I could not get on at 12.00 midday gmt, or 13.00, or around 1700 today , but I was only trying to see if I could.
It loaded up on Home page, straight away just now. But if everyone else is ok then it must be my end.
p.s. The car is not mine.

So just to confirm during the day, other sites load up fine for you? Just shuttertalk is not working? If that is the case it sounds like a problem at our end, and I will chase it up.

Yes, Jules. Sites such as BBC, fredmiranda, pool games, flash games work fine. I tried today at around 11 am, 5 pm, and 8pm. and "Site could not be reached" message. I will try a couple of Aus. sites tomorrow. Meanwhile we have been looking at fancy bathrooms. I pressed a button on a control pad on a shower cubicle and an alarm went off like a car alarm. There was buttons for music, temperature, radio, and a telephone. Who do you call when you are naked

Thanks for confirming Ray...
Interestingly enough I was having the connection error this morning as well - couldn't get on at all from my work computer, but on my mobile it was fine. Very strange.
Now it's working for both though.
I've sent off an email to support - let's see what they come back with.

Hi everyone, looks like they've come back and said that they spotted an error in the DNS configuration - basically depending on which DNS server you hit, it would have problems. Which would explain why some networks or geographical locations are reporting problems while others are accessing it fine.
Apparently it has been corrected, but it may take some time for it to propagate to the rest of the internet.
If you are still having problems after a day or so please let me know.
Also please let me know if the site is still loading slowly for you. I'm hoping they're related and the DNS thing will fix it but if not, please yell out.

I am good now. Thanks Julian. However I note that while browsing is fast, uploading even brief text to the forum continues to be very slow as before this failure
