Hi Jeff, I agree and as such, I have the Canon ef 135 f2.0 L and I do use it a lot for studio portraits and as a walk around on a 1Ds Mk3.
I would think a few lady snappers I know would take exception to the comment in the article where it talks about the weight of the 135mm, "Unlike a 70-200mm f/2.8, which can be a nightmare to work with for women photographers," who would not leave home without their 70-200mm....
The 135mm is a great lens and not that expensive esp. used.. e.g.

I find on a crop bidy that a lot of the time 135mm is just too long, I do fund myself at 70mm a lot, which equates to 112mm.
