New lens
#1

Here are some photographs, taken using my new 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR II lens. Taken at first light on a freezing cold morning, I am really pleased with them.

Nikon D80, 1/20 sec, f5.6, ISO 200, 82mm lens equivalent.

Nikon D80, 1/100 sec, f8, ISO 100, 27mm lens equivalent.

Nikon D80, 1/100 sec, f8, ISO 100, 72mm lens equivalent.

Nikon D80, 1/4 sec, f16, ISO 200, 33mm lens equivalent.

Nikon D80, 1/100 sec, f8, ISO 100, 27mm lens equivalent.

Ask yourself, "What's most important for the final image?".

And a couple more.

John, those are very nice shots. I especially like the last in the series. Your composition is superb. The 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 VRII is a great lens, especially between f5.6 and f8 where is gives excellent sharpness wall-to-wall. I also find the "macro" capability very useful and even though I have an AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm ƒ/3.5-5.6G ED VR and a couple of primes I always carry an 18-55 VRII in my bag.

Take my advice.  I'm not using it.Wink

A very good set, John - I like particularly #2 and #5.
