Gloucester Micro 4/3rds
#1

These days my Nikon is my favourite camera but I bought a tiny little Panasonic to keep in my pocket when I'm out and about. Today I cycled into town and grabbed a few of my home town on the little Panasonic.

Went to town on the PP, just for a change :-)

Beautiful images. Especially from such a small format.

Ask yourself, "What's most important for the final image?".

Good compositions. I particularly like the first and the last - contrasting man's and nature's attempts to recreate the countryside in an urban space!

Which Panasonic camera, Del?

Cheers.

Hi Philip, thanks for the comments. The Panasonic is a GM1 with a 12-32 mm lens, though the M43 system has a crop factor of 2 - so in full frame terms this would be 24-64. I must confess I like the M43 system - I started off with this system with an older Panasonic (a G3) when I got into photography a couple of years ago and though I sold all that kit I'm still fond of the system. You can see how small the GM1 is compared to the Nikon and Fuji APS-C cameras in the image below. The x100s was my previous carry around camera, and this is much smaller.

Jocko, thanks for the nice comment. I must confess I've never been able to tell the difference quality-wise with my M43 and APS-C pictures.

Cheers

Thanks for the extra info Derek. It was a Panasonic LX5 compact camera that got me back into photography as a retirement hobby, and from there I went along the Pentax DSLR route. However, recently I fancied having a higher quality compact (with a viewfinder) that I could have with me most of the time, although I wasn't willing to go to the expense of the Fuji X100 models. I was lucky to acquire a second-hand Panasonic LX100. It seems likely that it has the same 4/3 sensor as the GM1, but it crops the various aspect ratios from the image circle, so the biggest images are about 12.7 MP. Nevertheless it performs amazingly well, such that my own evidence agrees with your final sentence!

Cheers.
