Australia day fireworks
#1

Taken in Adelaide, South Australia - Christies Beach.

I took my family to the beach to have a paddle and watch the fireworks. I have been dying to make first attempts at fireworks with my *ist DS. Not being too confident with all manual controls, I just used it in Tv mode and tried different lengths of exposure from 1 sec to 10 secs. Some results were poor but very happy with general results.

First is a composition of 2 of the best...

And a closer crop of another...

Your marina is lovely... the sun reflection in the sand is superb!!!

A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.

I really enjoy the first shot, smarti. You certainly know how to do it!

I can take my next planned fireworks shots when it's New Year's Eve again. :/

And I especially like the reflection on the sand in the third shot! But I prefer landscape format in these kind of shots. Maybe there were something distracting in left or right, but I just think it might be better in landscape format.
By the way, what was the shutter speed in this sunset picture?

i love the way that there is detail in the bottom of the picuture, alot of fireworks shots are just of the fireworks themselves, without capturing the mood of the night. Lovely!

Exactly - that is just what I liked about these shots as well - plus they are very crisp - no blurring.

The seascape is lovely as well, btw...
