Not especially showcase but I found it a difficult shot to take.
The lights on the buildings keep changing in intensity and position so metering is out of the question.
I have not binned all that many though.
The building with the two prongs on top (communication tower) was the tallest in 1991.

I love these NT. Having people in some of them make the photo. My favourite is #3 with all the lights and the LCD display. When I shoot at night, my lights tend to be fuzzy, even when not overexposed. This is not a movement artefact, as I use tripod and the buildings are sharp? what is the secret? Thanks Pavel

Thanks Don. There were low clouds on the two days I went down near the Star Ferry Terminal, which reflected a lot of light back down to earth. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Getting a seat is the hard part as a lot of people go to watch. The light show is a daily thing. There are lights going on behind me as well. Like a competition between Kowloon and HK Island.

Pavel.. No secret. Trial and error mixed with a little bit of I have tried it before.
I take a shot with AV which results in blown out whites. This shot is sort of 'my meter'.
I then change to Manual and alter either the aperture or the speed or both if neccessary, to lose anything blown out that I don't want.
Is that called chimping or using your brain?
