Ermida near Geres, Portugal
#1

Geres is a small mountain town that must have once been very pretty. Now it is a tourist town, and although it never descends to the horors of Niagara Falls (the town) or Vegas, every house seems to be a hotel or restaurant or shop and it is not possble to park anywhere. We rapidly escaped to nearby tiny village of Ermida, a village with a modest coffee shop offering pop, bear, wine, coffee, tea and icecream and a pension - a farmhouse with three rooms (we were the only guests). The place charged 25 euro a night for a room - a charming rustic with all the usual amenities and a lovely veranda overlooking the valley and the mountains flanking it. Breakfasts - huge affairs were included and the meals were another 20 euro a couple a day. The food was very good and we never, never finished, even though we specifically asked for small portions.
This is the view of the village from our pension grounds.

I am enjoying a lot your pictures and stories from Portugal, Pavel.
It is a country I would love to visit too.

Thanks for sharing.
