The famous Edinburgh statue. Difficult background doesn't help this shot.
Dimage Z3, 1/100 sec, f4.5, ISO 100, 420mm lens equivalent.
Ask yourself, "What's most important for the final image?".

Mainly due to the tiny sensor's huge depth of field, John. A long lens and wide aperture on your D80 should work much better for this subject.
Cheers.

I need to revisit a lot of my earlier shots with my current gear.

John, the statue lends itself to the Quick Selection Tool, to segregate it, then, Lens Blur. This is full blur, can be set anywhere. Cheers. Ed.
To each his own!

Ed. I did that. In the original the wall was as sharp as the statue!

Hi John
this one I feel shows how far you have progressed on your photographic journey since taking this image.

I prefer the original, blurred enough to focus you on the statue and with a painterly quality, nicely done.
