This picture was just snapped over the table with the camera flash, after dinner. I really don't know if it has potential. Anyone like to try?
Click here to download the original sized picture. It is 3002 x 2000 pixels, 302 KB.
Here is my humble try:

Heres my playing as at 5am this morning, I went with a very boring crop though!
I like Rufus' second face as the background, very trendy!

I thought I'd post Jerry's attempt from the other "Girl photo" thread. I thought it one of the better ones for the skin tone.

Thanks to all of you, lads! You did wonders to the picture, really. The shot wasn't nice to begin with, though. Next time I will take care of the background, I promise.

I think a little makeover around the eye makes her look better.
Nikon D3100 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5, (I like to use a Vivitar .43x aux on the 28-70mm Tokina), Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye, Quanteray 70-300mm f4.5, ProOptic 500 mm f6.3 mirror lens. http://donschaefferphoto.blogspot.com/

Hey guys,
Here is my humble attempt.
I was mainly interested in reducing the tilt of her head and mouth to see how it would look, and trying to get a little bit of depth into her face.
...and a sepia version of it as well which kinda works but isn't great, but I included it simply because nobody else had posted one.
Cheers
Adrian

Don, you're right. She does look better when she's not crying.
Adrian, this is a very nice idea. I'm really surprised how different the picture is without the tilt. I don't like much the monochrome version, but the color pic is great!
Thanks, and welcome to the forum!

Yeah, I did the monochrome one as a 2-second afterthought (and using a projector as a monitor, which does weird things with colour and tone... excuses, excuses)... Looking at it on a "real" screen now I can see it pretty much sucks
Oh well...

Welcome to Shuttertalk Clair. From what I can see you did a real good job on the images. Thank you for resizing the photos. I would just like to ask that you go back and edit the post with the large files and resubmit smaller image files or just remove the files from the post all together. Thanks
