I was trying to do something with an orange rose as well but it just will not do what I want.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm
not sure about the former.

Wow Pete!
That first pic is just fabulous!

I see what you mean about the orange rose in the 2nd pic though. Perhaps the flash was a bit too harsh? It looks a little bit like a deer in the headlights and seems to have lost some of its subtlety.
I would have tried less flash and a longer shutter speed to try to bring out more of the natural light in the scene and just balance it with the flash.

But the first one is stunning. Smile

I am thinking that I may not have ven used the flash on these. Oh well gives me an excuse to keep trying. Big Grin

Both were with the "kit" lens that came with my Ds, it is a Sigma 18-50mm, DC. I am trying to get one of the 18-55mm DA Pentax lenses that come in the US kit because that one does rear focusing, it looks to be a better lens at a reasonable price..
