World's Most Expensive Photo Auctioned
#1

"A photograph of a pond taken by Edward Steichen sold for more than $2.9 million on Tuesday, easily setting a world record for the highest-priced photograph ever auctioned, Sotheby's said."

Wow, imagine paying 2.9 million for a photo....
The article doesn't show the picture, but I did some googling and found this:

The artistic community is quite interesting... I must admit that I really find it hard seeing the merits in that particular picture... but I guess if someone was willing to pay that much for it, then it must be good. Smile

it's interesting, I am just now coming home from a discussion forum on "What makes a picture iconic", and without going into detail, at the end of the day, no one really nailed it down.

but I do find it interesting, how some pictures have the potential to draw so much interest to them, to "turn someone's stomach" if you wish, to make them feel a connection.......

amazing. I could use 2.9 million.....

I think the photo was taken around 1904, the 2.9 million would not have gone to the original photographer... sad isn't it? Most artworks become art long after the artist is gone...

I know, but just think...

(If your grandchild buys you a camera, should you be flattered?)
