Moon Hunter
#1

So named because I spent 1/2 an hour driving 'round the city trying find a place to 'shoot the moon'.

EDIT: Hmmm, now that I look at it, the little tree on the left looks a little strange... maybe I should clone it out and crop up the bottom a tad?

Hey Cailean... I was moon hunting last night too! Perfectly round moon, and I was shooting the moon through some trees on my balcony. I'll post up some pics tonight.

I was very disappointed with the results though - I could get no detail whatsoever on the moon - it was all fuzzy and unsharp. I believe focus and exposure was right (I manually focused on infinity and underexposed) but still very noisy image. It could be the ISO200 and the characteristics on my particular camera (Fuji S5000), but yeah, pretty disapointed Sad Time to get a DSLR, methinks Smile

BTW, that tree on the left was lit by a street light just out of frame on the right...

What do you think of the gold tone? I just figured out how to do that...

i think the gold (on the tree on the right) takes away your focus/intested to the moon.

i should have shot the moon ... but i forgot all about it .. .
i have a big park out the front of my house.. so its quite ideal to shoot the moon as long as its not low and the clouds arent out ..

Although the position of the mooon doesnt quite match the shadows directions .. (unless the light is from somehwere else) ...
thats quite a spooky photo....

Yes - Composite photos are my specialty - I use them on my CD cover work almost exclusively. I get a real creative kick out of this kind of thing. Here's another (5 photo composite):
