my other favorite subject... wildlife!

a few photos from somewhat warmer days...

A cedar waxwing at a park near my home, shot with my 40D and 100-400 @ 400mm, 1/1600 @ f/6.3...

a green heron, from the same park, having a snack. these guys are usually fairly shy, but when hunting, they're often so intent on what they're doing that they don't mind being photographed. this little guy was about 15 feet away when i shot this with my 40D and 100-400 lens, 400mm, 1/320 @ f/6.3...

an osprey flying overhead... same park again. that spot is a gold mine for bird photos in early spring and summer. by June, it's pretty much dead, and doesn't really pick up again till about February... this was taken with my 40D and 400mm, 1/1250 @ f/7.1

as you can tell, i love shooting birds and landscapes, it just works out that birds are closer! Wink this park is only a couple of miles from my house, so i can get there pretty much any evening in spring, and on a sunny weekend in April or May, it's a marvelous place to spend a few hours...
