Horseshoe Bend
#1

this is Horseshoe Bend, a couple of miles outside of Page, Arizona, on the other side of town from Antelope Canyon. it's easy to get to, but not a place for those afraid of heights. the drop from this edge to the talus slope below is over 900 feet... and there's nothing in between to stop you! i'm not normally bothered by heights, but this place gave even me a bit of vertigo! :o

because this scene is so vast, i couldn't get it all in one shot at 17mm (drat - no 10-22!), so i had to take multiple frames in vertical mode. in retrospect, i should probably have shot overlapping frames vertically as well as horizontally to get the sky in, but at the time, that didn't occur to me... Sad anyway, this is a 5-frame composite shot with my 40D and Tammy 17-35 at 17mm. something in the ballpark of 1/320 @ f/16, if memory serves...
