The new Canon EOS M will be priced at around $800 and is currently available for pre order in most countries. At this price tag it can definitely be considered a high end digital camera option, with the EOS M arriving in compact form rather than the bulkier DSLR EOS that came prior to this model. Panasonic’s newest release to the realm of the mid range DSLR is the Lumix DMC-G5. Normally we have seen some pretty positive things from Panasonic and the Lumix range, catering for all budgets and level of enthusiasm for photography. Now the DMC-G5 is set to compete with cameras such as the Fuji X10, Nikon 3200 as well as the new Canon EOS M set to release in September.
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera is a Micro Four Thirds camera expressly designed to bridge the gap between point-and-shoot cameras and full-size DSLR cameras. It is aimed at serious enthusiasts: it offers much higher performance and control than point-and-shoot cameras, but is not intended to be a professional camera.
When you first look at the Fuji X10 nothing remarkable really jumps out at you. The simple, elegant and retro design causes to camera to look as though it has jumped straight out of the 1950’s when portable camera use really took a hold of the masses. Topaz plug-ins allow the user to quickly apply any of an included collection of visual effect presets to an image, and to tweak those effects via additional adjustment controls. For this review, I will be focusing on how I use the Topaz plug-ins within my post processing workflow.
