Taken from Tamron site but it is for the new DI model.
Diameter x Length ø3.0 x 4.6in.
(ø76.6 x 116.5mm)
It looks about that in the shop window..Jessops

And an alternative

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro (Nikon AF)

Update...Length with both dust caps on.140mm.
Width.. 75mm....
Lens hood width 87mm. This will fit over the lens back to front and does not increase the length.
This is not the new DI model but the one you state.

It arrived this morning with a 350D . whooooooee.
