Bird identification
#1

Hello everyone

Could someone please help me identify this bird. It was taken by a river in England and my Granddaughter would like to know what it is. The closest I have found is a Cormorant, but not all the markings are the same.

With best regards
Jane

Hi Jane,

I'm no bird expert, but the feet and yellow patch both say Cormorant to me.

Yep, Cormorant, there are several varieties and colour variations.

Agreed. The picture on Wikipedia removes any doubt: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cormorant#/...erry_3.jpg

I agree, most definitely a Cormorant. The only bird that the Cormorant is similar to is the European Shag.

Thanks everyone. I thought it might be from that family but wasn't sure.
