Very nice shot of the Tradescantia - we have cultivated, hardy herbaceous ones here in the UK but none in the wild as far as I know.
The tender Tradescantia flumanensis are popular as hanging plant indoors.

These grow as "weeds" prolifically here. In the woods, fields, and peoples' yards....
