This one seems to be very unrestrictive and passes on 91% of the profit back to the artist... sounds pretty good!

Now that is interesting, as I'm now halfway towards my 4th CD and already sighing at lack-to-be of local interest. I'll have a good trawl through and have a look.
I echo that question too..anyone experience of this?

I think I'd have to hit a prolific seam first: they seem to want a CD's worth; understandably this stuff would then be locked into them, and on average it takes me around 45 man-hours per track...hmm...

Just an addendum to this thread. I caught a snipped of Janis Ian's performance a couple of nights ago on ABC and was intrigued by her. Till then, I did not know who she was or knew any of her songs.

For those in the dark, I would call her a folk singer (and guitar player) who dabbles in country and jazz. She's in her mid-late fifties now I think, but she was just mesmerising to watch.

Anyway, the reason why I'm posting this is to encourage you to check out her website:

There she documents, in great detail, how she went about writing her latest album "Billie's Bones", which is a tribute to Billie Holiday. She posts details like a diary, a copy of the budget (without $ details), samples of studio sessions and how some of the songs evolved over time, etc. I found it to be a fascinating read and if you're into songwriting/recording/producing, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
