Canon 7D extreme stress test
#1

As hard as it is to watch, this video of a Canon 7D being subjected to extremely stressful situations is most fascinating. Basically, they took a 7D, then:

- dropped it down a bunch of steps
- whacked it a fair bit
- immersed it in water and froze it solid
- shot at it with a BB gun
- dried it out in an oven at low heat
- set fire to it

After which, the 7D was still operational and even managed to take pictures and save them to a memory card. Obviously the camera was gone cosmetically, but the fact that it could withstand so much damage and keep working is a testament to its design and construction.

Well the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I wonder if it will be sent out as a factory reconditioned unit in the near future.
And if you got it, would you keep it or send it back (if it had that serial no.) I am not sure I would. Dodgy

Bearing in mind, a quick fix bit of plastic bag, as a light shield. Confused

Good to watch someone else do it though. Big Grin

I'm impressed. I can only imagine that other cameras in the same sort of class, or above, would perform similarly… but I'm glad that they didn't do this to a D800 just the same. Big Grin
