Cause of colored dust?
#1

Just did a shoot today and noticed several specks of "dust" on all my photos. They always appeared in the same spot. I'm concerned that I have a dirty sensor (I change the lens once every couple years), but doesn't a dirty sensor give gray/black dust? I have colored dots, but when I convert the RAW to a jpeg, the dust turns gray. (To preserve the colors, I did a screen grab of the raw image). Or perhaps they're defective pixels. How did that happen?

Any detectives here? I'm afraid to open the camera and blow/wipe anything in there.

Here's the image metadata:
Camera Model Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/30
Av( Aperture Value ) 5.6
Metering Mode Evaluative Metering
Exposure Compensation 0
ISO Speed 1600
Lens 18.0 - 55.0mm
Focal Length 55.0mm
Image Size 3456x2304
Image Quality RAW
White Balance Mode Auto
Color Space sRGB
Noise Reduction Off

Thanks.

Bad pixels, not dust.

Thanks, glad to know I don't have to clean it.

Yes, definitely looks like stuck pixels. Question - are the on your camera sensor or the monitor? i.e. make the image window smaller and move it around the screen. Do the pixels move with the image?

If they were on the monitor.... a screen capture wouldn't grab them would it?

No, those bad pixels aren't on my monitor. If I move the image around, the pixels move with the image. I only have one dead pixel on my monitor.
